Never have bored kids again! Here's our round-up of "family-friendly" fun in and around Winston-Salem. These activities and events are geared towards the younger crowd, though hopefully it's enjoyable for the whole family.

    • Curiosity Cart (10:30 am) at Kaleideum North. Spark your curiosity through arts and crafts, museum collections, science, and more.
    • Toddler Storytime (10:30-11 am) at Clemmons Library.
    • Preschool Storytime (11 am) at Southside Library at 11 am.  
    • Music and Movement (11 am) at Central Library for ages 2-6. Join for songs, dancing, and stories!
    • K-5th Grade Storytime at North Davidson Library at 3:30 pm.

    • Innovation Station (10:30 am) at Kaleideum North. Explore engineering and new technology through hands-on activities. Included with museum admission.
    • Preschool Storytime (10:30-11 am) at Clemmons Library
    • Sister Power: Creating a Vision (5 pm) at MLK Jr Recreation Center. Vision Board design class for school age young ladies.

    Friday

    • Barnes & Noble Storytime (11 am).  Join for a storytime adventure every Friday.
    • Animal Encounter (11:30 am) at Kaleideum North. Included with museum admission.
    • Button Making for Teens (3-5 pm) at Central Library. Ages 9-18. Drop in to make buttons to take home.

    Saturday

    • Science Live at Kaleideum North (11 am) Included with museum admission.
    • Family Storytime (11am) at Central Library. Songs, rhymes, and stories, all ages welcome.
    • Animal Encounter at Kaleideum North (11:30 am). Included with museum admission

    • Ice Skating at Winston Salem Fairgrounds. Find their schedule here.
    • Nature Notebooks: Pick up your nature notebook starting March 18th at Lewisville Library. Find plants native to NC and draw them in the book, draw one for each category. Then bring back to the library for a prize by May 31. 
    • Thunderbirds Hockey Games at Winston Salem Fairgrounds.  
    • Spring Break Camp (April 3-6, & 10) via WS Parks & Rec. Grades K-5 from 7:30 am-5:30 pm. Join for outdoor activities, nature crafts, and more. Call your closest rec center: Hanes Hosiery, Miller Park, Polo Park, or Sedge Garden.
    • Daily Events at Nido & Quebein Children’s Museum

    March 8

    • Mom’s Morning Meetup (9am) at Cognition Davie. Come make new mom friends and drink coffee while the kids play. $5/person. 
    • Celebration Wednesdays (5-6pm) at Clemmons Library. Grade school students and families will learn about a topic, participate in a quiz game (bring phone, tablet, or laptop), and do a craft or activity. Register by contacting Jennifer Eash at eashjl@forsyth.cc or 336-703-2923. 
    • Family Craft Night (5:30 pm) at Georgia Taylor Neighborhood Center. Call to ensure it will occur (336-650-7695). 

    March 9

    • A Taste of Science: Fruit Salad and Food Exploration (4pm) at Cognition Davie.  For K-2nd grade. Come to Cognition to learn all about fruits and veggies while making a delicious fruit salad! ($8/child.) 
    • Hispanic Culture Crafts for Tweens & Teens (4-5 pm) at Central Library. Focus on Panama and Colombia. Ages 9-18; bilingual program.

    March 10

    • Homeschool Event: Magical Magnets (10am) at Cognition Davie. Build compasses, experiment, and learn what magnetic energy can do.  Tickets here. ($8/student.)
    • Parents’ Night Out (5:30-8:30 pm) at Polo Park Rec Center. Ages 5-12. Dinner, games and fun! To register call 336-659-4309. ($10.)

    March 11

    • 2nd Saturday at SECCA (10 am-1 pm drop in) in the Auditorium Lobby. Family-oriented art event (FREE; donations welcome). 
    • Little Innovators (11:30 am- 12:30pm) at Kaleideum North. Preschoolers can listen to a St. Patty’s day story, make a leprechaun trap, and enjoy sensory play. Register here.($5-8.)

    March 13

    • This & That After School Program (4 pm) at North Davidson Library for ages 8-12. There will be crafts, games, and experiments. 
    • STEAM for Teens (4-5pm) at Paddison Memorial Library. Rainbow Experiments. Registration required. Email name, age & date of program to kellumsm@forsythlibrary.org 
    • Trivia Night (6 pm) at North Davidson Library for ages 11 and up. Pizza and drinks provided. Register at the library or call 336-242-2050.

    • Reynolda Read-Aloud (10 am) in the Jordan Courtyard (Reynolda House). Outdoor storytime, songs, and fingerplays. Theme: Bears. (FREE)
    • Pot of Gold Treasure Hunt (4 pm) at South Fork Community Center for ages 3-5.  Hunt for gold coins to cash in for prizes!

    • Lowes DIY Kids Workshop (10 am): Children will work on Cardinal Garden Ornament. Reserve spot here. (FREE)
    • Toddler Trek (10-11:30am) at Minglewood Farm and Nature Preserve. Read a story, smell herbs, investigate specimens, and explore outdoors. Donations accepted. Get tickets here. 
    • Creek Week  (10am-2pm) at Kaleideum North. Investigate watersheds, meet live animals, make a water-themed craft.  Included with admission.  
    • Brain Awareness Day (10am-2pm) at Kaleideum North. Learn how your brain works and how to keep it safe. Fun activities for all ages.  Included with admission. 
    • Hora del Cuento/ Spanish Storytime (10:30-11 am) at Kaleideum North. Join for stories in Spanish and a craft! Included with admission. 
    • Matinee Movie Madness (2-5 pm) at Clemmons Library. Showing: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Rated PG-13

    • Smile Science (4 pm) at Cognition Davie for 2nd-5th graders. Conduct experiments, talk about why dental health is important, and how we can keep our smiles bright. Sign up here. (FREE)

    • Night at the Museum (5pm) at Cognition Davie. Drop the kids off for exhibit exploration, hands-on activities, pizza, and a movie. For children 5-12 years old.  Tickets here. ($30/first child, $10/add sibling.)

    • Take A Walk In The Park Day (1 pm) at Quarry Park. Take a photo and tag @ws_recreationparks and #takeawalkintheparkday.

    • Little Cog Easter Egg Hunt (9:30 am) at Cognition Davie. Easter egg hunt around exhibit space filled with candy and prizes, then stay and play. For ages 3-6. ($5/child.)
    • Get EGG-cited (4pm) at Cognition Davie for 2nd-5th graders. Hunt for eggs then do some egg-speriments in the makerspace! Sign up here.  ($8/student) 
    • Teen Pinterest Club (4-5 pm) at Southside Branch Library. Create cool crafts you have seen on Pinterest with friends. Ages 12-17. Pre-registration required. Call 336-703-2980 or email schermmg@forsyth.cc to register and find out the craft.
