Never have bored kids again! Here's our round-up of "family-friendly" fun in and around Winston-Salem. These activities and events are geared towards the younger crowd, though hopefully it's enjoyable for the whole family.

Monday

  • Book Babies (10 am) at Rural Hall Library
  • Toddler Storytime (10 am) at Lewisville Library. Join for stories, songs, and activities for ages 0-2 and caregivers. 
  • Preschool Storytime (10:30 am) at Reynolda Manor Library 
  • Preschool Storytime  (10 am) at Walkertown Library
  • Preschool Storytime (10:30 am) at Reynolda Manor Library. 
  • Little & Kids Yoga (11 am) at High Point Library. Register by calling (336)883-3666. 
  • Kids Art Workshop (4:30-5:30) at Carl Russell Community Center. Ages 4-7. Join to get your mind moving with fun and creative activities. Limited spots; call 336-727-2580.

 Tuesday

  • Book Babies Storytime (10 am) at Central Library. For ages birth to 18 months. Join us on the patio. (starting September 6)
  • Tots & Tunes (10-11am) at Georgia Taylor Neighborhood Center. Ages 2-6. Enjoy a morning full of movement and music activities! $10/class. For more information, email: Kelseyw@cityofws.org
  • American Sign Language Classes with Cam’s Coffee (10-10:30am) at Kaleideum. Introduce your toddler to ASL (for ages 2-4). Sept 12, 19, and 26. 
  • Innovation Station (10:30am) at Kaleideum North. Explore new technology and engineering through hands-on activities. Included in admission. 
  • Preschool Storytime (10-10:30 am) at Lewisville Branch Library. Join for stories, fingerplays, songs, and activities for ages 3-5 and caregivers.

  • WonderLab (10:30-11 am) at Kaleideum. Unlock the mysteries of fascinating science concepts form color creation to electricity essence. 
  • Music & Movement (11:30 am) at Clemmons Library. Join for songs and dancing! 
  • STEAM for Teens (5-6 pm) at Central Library. Learn how to build creations out of various materials to take home in the Maker-space.
  • Kids in the Kitchen (5:30 pm) at Sedge Garden CC. Ages 7-12, $30 per child. 

Thursday 

  • Preschool Storytime (10 am) at Malloy/Jordan East Winston Library. Join for stories and songs.

  • Animal Encounter (11:30 am) at Kaleideum North. Included with museum admission.

Saturday

  • Family Storytime (11am) at Central Library. Songs, rhymes, and stories, all ages welcome.
  • Curiosity Cart (1 pm) at Kaleideum North. Spark your curiosity through arts and crafts, museum collections, science, and more. Included in admission.

    September 18

    • In-Betweeners (4 pm) at North Davidson Library for ages 8-12. Crafts, games, and experiments. 
    • Family Lego Night (6 pm) at North Davidson Library. All ages and all attendees must participate. Sign up at the library or call 336-242-2050.

    • National Pepperoni Pizza Day (6 pm) at Polo Park Community Center. Make your own personal pizza!

    • Reynolda Read Aloud (10am) at Reynolda House-Jordan Courtyard. For emerging readers, join for stories, songs, and fingerplays. This one will start at the boat house and continue along the trails. Must register here. (FREE)
    • STEAM Storytime (9:30 am) at Cognition Davie. Calling 3-5 year olds to enjoy storytime then a related STEAM activity. Then play upstairs. Sign up here.  (FREE)
    • Day Out with Thomas at NC Transportation Museum. Enjoy 25 min. ride on Thomas then activities like bean bag toss, mini golf, maze, bubbles, crafts, inflatables, and more! $20/person

    • Mrs. Cottontail & Friends Storytime (11:00 am) at Kaleideum. Read a story, and meet a fluffy friend.. Included with admission. 
    • Apple Festival (10am-4pm) at Bethabara Park. Join for local artisans, food vendors, Racing pigs, live music, and apples. 
    • Dig Up the Past at High Point Museum. Help the Museum solve historical puzzles to uncover long lost artifacts important to High Point history. For kids under 10. 
    • Day Out with Thomas at NC Transportation Museum. Enjoy 25 min. ride on Thomas then activities like bean bag toss, mini golf, maze, bubbles, crafts, inflatables, and more! $20/person
    • Parents’ Night Out: Robo Surprise  (5:30-8:30pm) at Kaleideum. Play with spheros, ozobots, beebotos, and scribblebots. Eat pizza and snacks. $25-30 per child.

    • Carolina Classic Fair at Winston Salem Fairgrounds.

    September 30

    • Annual Farm Festival at Apple Family Farm. Food trucks, vendors, music, kids activities, mums, pumpkins, hay bales, hay rides and more. (FREE)
    • Carolina Classic Fair at Winston Salem Fairgrounds. 
    • Pipe Cleaner Corn (10am-2pm drop in) in Little Red School House at High Point Museum 
    • Day Out with Thomas at NC Transportation Museum. Enjoy 25 min. ride on Thomas then activities like bean bag toss, mini golf, maze, bubbles, crafts, inflatables, and more! $20/person
    • Carnival and Touch-a-Truck (10am-1pm) at Cognition Davie. Join for food and family friendly entertainment, as well as exploring different types of vehicles. Free for all ages!
