Ways to Support Relief Efforts in Western NC

Like many others, we at Best of Winston continue to feel shocked and heartbroken over the unfathomable destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. As time passes on, we know it is important not to forget the needs of our mountain neighbors and to continue to be a part of helping and supporting any way we can. You can find some opportunities to help below. 

Local Hurricane Relief Initiatives You Can Support

  • Purchase a beer.
    • The NC Craft Brewers Guild is uniting the craft beer community with a fundraiser, Pouring for Neighbors, where breweries select a specific beer, and a portion of the proceeds from its sale will go towards supporting disaster relief efforts.
    • LOCAL PARTICIPANTS:
  • Purchase a t-shirt from local artist, That Blonde Girl Vikki by October 18th
    • Proceeds from your $25 purchase go to BeLoved Asheville
  • Attend a concert at UNC School of the Arts.
    • 100% of proceeds from Sept. 26th-Oct. 31st will go to the Piedmont Chapter of the American Red Cross
  • Go to a show:
    • GOOSE Hurricane Helene Benefit Event at LJVM Coliseum
      • October 25th at 8:00 pm
      • Proceeds from the show will benefit Hurricane Helene Relief, as they are working in partnership with Conscious Alliance and local organizations providing critical support.
    • The Collection: The Final Show at The Ramkat
      • November 2nd at 8:00 pm
      • All of the bands’ proceeds from this show will go towards our neighbors in need.
  • Raise a Glass for WNC at BarNola on October 23rd
    • Enjoy a drink and Bar Nola will be donating a percentage of sales to organizations helping in WNC.
    • Food Trucks available.

Local Drop-Off Locations for Hurricane Relief Donations

  • Wise Man Brewing 826 Angelo Bros Ave. (through the end of October)
    •  Drop off these supplies under the wall of windows in the taproom
  • Big Winston Warehouse: 740 Trade St. NW
    • Celestial Wellness, Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Company and Broad Branch Distillery are partnering together to help those affected by the hurricane
    • They are asking for food donations, as this location is a FEMA center.
  • ByGood Coffee: 301 Brookstown Ave.
    • ByGood Coffee, Dilisios, Aurora Beauty Salon, RedHot Beauty and Wood & Thread are working in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC
  • Forsyth Humane Society: 4881 Country Club Rd
    • Purchase items from their Amazon wishlist
    • Drop off items in person. Donations can be dropped off Monday-Saturday from 10 am-1 pm and 2 pm-6 pm
  • Reynolda Village
    • Donation Drive-Thru: October 19, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
    • Reynolda Village is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank to offer a Donation Drive-Through. Enter Reynolda Village through the main entrance at 2201 Reynolda Road and follow the signs.  There will be volunteers available to unload your vehicle.
